The newest veterinary view films will premier at Members' Day 2016
The first exhibition of winning photographs from BVA's inaugural photography competition and the premier of the latest ‘Veterinary View' programme will both be taking place at BVA's Members' Day at At-Bristol on 22 September.
Earlier this year BVA ran its first photography competition for members, which received over 400 entries and was won by vets Karen Coumbe and Stephen Powles. An equine vet with more than 30 years' experience, Karen's photo of an operation on an infected hoof won the ‘You and your work' category, whilst a photo of a bat in flight took the crown in the ‘Wonderful world of animals' category for Stephen, who joined BVA in 1983. Attendees at Members' Day will be able to see an exhibition of the winning photographs for the first time, along with those entries that received a Highly Commended award.
Members' Day attendees will also be invited to view this year's ‘Veterinary View' programme for the first time. Now in its second year, ‘Veterinary View' is a series of unique news and current affairs-style short films for and about the veterinary profession, made in collaboration with ITN Productions. This year's films cover a wealth of topics aimed at all areas of the profession, including a look at where a veterinary degree can take you, who's who in a veterinary practice and how the veterinary profession is working to tackle antimicrobial resistance. There's also a look at responsible dog breeding and buying, as well as preventive healthcare and the importance of the vet client relationship, all combining key industry and sector interviews and reports.
Sean Wensley, President of the British Veterinary Association, said:
“Members' Day is always an interesting event, but we're pleased this year to be able to offer two more exclusives for our attendees. The photography competition was a great opportunity to showcase the wide range of work our members do and capture the animal world through a vet's eye – the profession is definitely a talented group! We're also excited to share the second year of “Veterinary View” with our members as the films were made for them and feature many of them too.”
The photography exhibition will be available to view throughout the day and all attendees will enjoy a 15-minute edited version of the Veterinary View programme at an evening reception of drinks, popcorn and other cinema-fare sponsored by ITN Productions.
